Two of the most popular Sonos connected speakers are coming to Apple retail stores and online.
The $499 Play:5 can easily offer room filling sound.
The Play:1 and Play:5 will be available later today at apple.com here. They will land in Apple stores worldwide next week on Wednesday, Oct. 5
More than 140 stores will offer a hands-on Sonos and Apple Music demo station. It will feature an iPad Pro with a guided Sonos app experience.
Retailing for $199, the Play:1 connects to your home Wi-Fi network and can be placed anywhere within wireless range. Using the companion app on an iPhone or iPad, you can play music from a number of different locations, including streaming services, or even tracks on your computer. You can select from a black or white version.
Hitting the market late last year, the second-generation Play: 5 is packed with a number of great features. Thanks to six drivers, three mid-woofers, and three tweeters, the speaker can easily fill a room with sound. Along with a being able to place one in horizontal orientation as a standalone speaker, you can pair two speakers together in either a vertical or horizontal position for massive stereo sound.
The top of the speaker features touch controls that allows users to play, pause, and change the music track along with adjusting the volume.
It can be purchased for $499, and is available in black or white as well. My colleague Bryan M. Wolfe, in his original review of the speaker found that the sound quality of the speaker is well worth the cost of admission.
An added bonus
Starting today, and going through Saturday, Dec. 31, anyone who purchases a Sonos speaker at an Apple store or online will also receive a free three-month Apple Music gift card.
