Soro for Sonos Updated With HomePod-Like Intercom Action
Originally landing in 2021, Soro is a perfect companion for anyone with a Sonos speaker and Apple devices.
The app brings more than 30 actions to help control Sonos speakers and home theaters systems.
You can then create both quick action or longer workflows integrating others apps via Shortcuts. Those can be controlled with widgets, Siri voice commands or automations.
And with version 1.4 the app adds a great new action that should be familiar to any HomePod user. Speak Text allows you to play messages or media files on any supported Sonos speaker using the text-to-speech features built into iOS, iPadOS, and macOS.
After the message, any content that was playing will continue.
That’s similar to the Intercom function available on any HomePod.
Here’s the complete list of action available in the Shortcuts app with Soro:
– Group/Ungroup – Set Volume – Play/Pause/Stop – Mute/Unmute – Load Music and Favorites – Load URL -> supports links from Apple Music, Spotify and Bandcamp; load and play albums, track, playlists or radio stations directly from the correspondent apps via the share sheet or from other 1st and 3rd party shortcuts (for example MusicHarbor, Toolbox Pro) – Get Music Library Items -> Search or browse for albums, artists or genres then load and play them on your speakers – Get Bandcamp Purchases – Set a Sleep Timer – Set Line-In input – Set TV input – Change Repeat/Shuffle – Adjust Equalizer Settings (Treble/Bass/Loudness/Trueplay) – Turn Speech Enhancement On/Off – Turn Night Mode On/Off – Adjust subwoofer and surround sound settings – Set Crossfade – Set TV Autoplay – Set TV Dialog Sync Delay – Wake Speaker – Set Touch Control – Get Alarms – Create Alarm – Delete Alarm – Separate Stereo Pair – Create Stereo Pair
Just to note you device needs to be on the same network as the Sonos speakers to use Soro. You’ll also have to provide local network access to the app.
Soro for Sonos is for the iPhone, iPad, and Mac. It’s a $7.99 download on the App Store now. There are no subscriptions or in-app purchases.
