Spectre Camera Goes Free, Adds Option for 30-Second Long Exposure
Long exposure photography provides some beautiful results. But getting the perfect shot can sometimes take a substantial amount of work like keeping the camera completely steady and having the correct amount of light.
But Spectre Camera takes all of the guess work out of the equation and brings the photography style to anyone with an iPhone.
From the team behind the camera app Halide and Skylight Forecast, Spectre Camera uses AI to help make long exposure images.
To take a photo, tap the app’s shutter button and hold steady while the app takes and combines hundreds of photos. You can set anywhere from a short to longer exposure. To create the best possible image, there is a stabilizer icon on the screen so you can keep the phone steady.
All of the images captured by the app are saved as a Live Photo. With that, you can replay the exposure as it happened.
Some of the things you can do with the app include erasing crowds from locations and capture photos with beautiful light trails and water effects. It’s also designed to be easily used with one hand, even with a Pro Max.
All of that helped Apple name Spectre Camera the Best App of 2019.
The app has just received an update to version 1.5 with some substantial changes.
First up, the app is now a completely free download. That will open up the technology many more users.
With the free version, you can capture re long exposure photos up to 3 seconds long. There is now a new Spectre Pro tier that can be unlocked with a one-time $4.99 in-app purchase. After that, you can also capture images anywhere from 5 seconds to the new option of 30 seconds.
The in-app purchase will also unlock an exclusive icon and discounts on the developer’s other apps.
Anyone who has previously purchased Spectre Camera will receive the update for free.
