Spotify Streaming Apparently Rolling Out to Apple Watch Users

November 3, 2020

While there has been no official word from the company, Spotify is apparently rolling out streaming for Apple Watch users. That means you can listen to the streaming service using Wi-Fi or LTE without needing an iPhone nearby.

To see if the feature is available for you, open the Spotify Apple Watch app. There is a pop-up that says “Want to stream on Apple Watch? Select here.”

You can then choose your Apple Watch. You’ll need to connect to the Watch with AirPods or other Bluetooth-enabled headphones.

The feature is still labeled as a beta. So you may run into issues while streaming.

There’s no search feature at the moment, but you can quickly access your Spotify library and recently played music or podcasts.

I was able to confirm that the feature was active on my Apple Watch and I was able to stream music via Wi-Fi and cellular connection. I’m running the most recent version of Spotify available on the App Store.

Spotify is free to download on the App Store. You’ll need a subscription for unlimited streaming.
