Great, Inexpensive Wireless Headphones for Summer
Ah, summertime. Warmer temperatures, days at the beach, the perfect time to listen to excellent music. Here are some great wireless headphone choices for this summer.
House of Marley Rebel BT, On-Ear, $69.99
We’ve long been sold on The House of Marley, which offers economical audio products made from Earth-friendly materials. The Rebel BT offers an 8-hour wireless play experience between charges. You can also use the headphones with the included removable cable, which also serves as a mic and single button remote. The Rebel BT features a silicone rubber headband made from recycled materials. Luxe padding makes for a comfortable listening experience.
The Rebel BT is available in black, gray, and navy.
Our take: The Rebel BT is one of the most comfortable pair of on-ear headphones that we’ve reviewed. The cable input jack being on the right earpad was an interesting choice, as most newer headphones now include jacks on both sides. The Rebel BT handles low and high sounds with ease, alongside punchy bass that isn’t overpowering.
Bottom line: The House of Marley has another winner on its hands with the Rebel BT. Value-priced and offering terrific sounds, this is a great pair of wireless headphones.
You can pick up a pair of Rebel BT headphones through The House of Marley website. They are less expensive when purchased through Amazon.
Aukey Neckband Bluetooth 4.1 Earbuds, $24.99

Our take: For workout scenarios, these are a nice set of headphones. Being sweatproof also helps. The sound here is unexceptionable, but you should expect this at this price point.
Bottom line: A lot of folks start exercise routines in the summer. If you’re one of those people, but aren’t quite sure that the workout will carry over into fall, buy the Aukey Bluetooth Neckband Headset. They are inexpensive, mostly durable, and ideal for summer workouts.

1byone Bluetooth Headphones Earphones, $32.99
We first reviewed the Bluetooth 4.1 Wireless In-Ear Headphones from 1byone in February and continue to love it. These headphones feature a button strip located on the connective wire, which contains volume/track control buttons and a multifunction button.
Our take: We find these headphones much more comfortable than Apple EarPods. They also stay put.
Bottom line: If you’re looking for compact, reasonably-priced, comfortable, and effective headphones, you’ll want to consider 1byone Bluetooth 4.1 Wireless Industry in-Ear Headphones.
The 1bygone Bluetooth 4.1 Wireless In-Ear Headphones are available through Amazon.
Urbanears Active Hellas, On-Ear, $119
Scandinavia’s Urbanears has slowly made a name for itself thanks to its eclectic line of headphones and audio products. The Active Hellas Bluetooth wireless headphones are made for the outdoors. Each pair is sweat-friendly, with detachable ear cushions and a headband which are washable. One earpad contains a touch interface that lets you cycle your playlist and pick up calls without hunting for buttons.
To keep prices low, Urbanears has elected to ship the Active Hellas without an audio cord, making them wireless only. An included USB 2.0 cable connects the Active Hellas with a micro-USB connector to a USB port for syncing and charging.
The Active Hellas comes in various colors, including special edition models.
Our take: We really like the look and feel of the Active Hellas; they are durable yet light. The ear cushions aren’t very comfortable, however, and the sound quality is lacking on the highs. We also wished it came with a wired connection.
Bottom line: The Active Hellas offers a lot of great features at a nice price.
The Active Hellas are available on the Urbanears website and through Amazon.
Skullcandy Uproar Wireless, $48.99
A budget-conscious choice, Skullcandy’s on-ear headphones feature soft ear pillows for maximum comfort. The built-in battery can go for up to 10 hours before needing to be recharged. There’s also an onboard microphone for handsfree phone calls and a remote to control the music.
The Skullcandy Uproar Wireless is available in seven unique color choices.
Our take: These headphones really pack a punch for the price. They are comfortable and last a long time on a charge. Like the Active Hellas, these don’t come with a conventional 3.5mm jack. So when the battery dies, your music will go along with it.
Bottom line: For the price, these are an excellent choice for summer fun.
The Skullcandy Uproar Wireless is available through the Skullcandy website and through Amazon.
