Top 8 Weather Apps for the Apple Watch
While the Apple Watch is far from perfect in its current itineration, it does provide a great way quickly and easily view important information – like the weather. With severe weather season heating up in a large part of the United States, here are eight great weather apps for the wearable device.
Dark Sky
It shouldn’t come as a big surprise, but one of the best weather apps for iOS devices also looks spectacular on the Apple Watch. Along with detailed notifications, Dark Sky will show you the current conditions, a detailed forecast for the next 24 hours, and the outlook for the next seven days. My favorite feature is the complication that can be placed on a number of different watch faces. Selecting it will automatically bring up the app itself on your watch.
NOAA Hi-Def Radar Pro
Yahoo Weather
Another beautiful weather app, Yahoo Weather does a nice job giving users a nice amount of data in a quick and easy-to-read format. For your current location, or any other favorites, you can view the temperature, feels like temperature, chance of precipitation, wind speed, sunrise/sunset times, and a breakdown of what to expect during the day.
Carrot Weather
Get the weather with a side of snark. The top feature, at least on the Apple Watch, is the great complication that shows you the weather with an occasional snide remark. You can change colors of the complication, switch between the actual and the feels like temperature, and add additional data like the UV index and chance of precipitation. It does require a premium subscription. The app itself shows the current conditions, a short-term six-hour forecast, and the forecast for the next week.
BeWeather 2
Customization is the name of the game with BeWeather 2. You can select exactly what information to view on either available complication size. On the large complication, you can select from data points like the hi/lo temperature, wind, wind gust, humidity, pressure, dew point, visibility, and UV index. On the smaller complication, you can customize it with conditions, temperature only, temperature and chance of rain, conditions and chance of rain, or just the chance of rain.
As for the app itself, users can select from one of nine different color themes. You can even choose what to view on the left and right weather data slots.
Raincast
Weather Nerd
Weather Nerd packs a lot of great information onto the small Apple Watch face with four different data screens. In the first you can view the current radar and the precipitation outlook for the next hour. The next screen shows a quick overview of today’s weather. You’ll also see a quick rundown of the forecasted conditions for tomorrow along with a seven-day forecast.
Storm
With the app, you can view real-time alerts for precipitation and lightning at your location. It will also show any NOAA severe weather watches or warnings. The small complication will show the current temperature for your location. A larger version shows the current temperature, the feels like temperature, dew point, and wind speed/direction.
