Watch Apple's Eddy Cue and HBO's Richard Plepler Discuss the State of Television
Apple’s Eddy Cue and HBO CEO Richard Plepler sat down for a joint interview during Vanity Fair’s New Establishment Summit, where they both spoke about the state of the television industry, the relationship between the two companies, and how they believe TV will improve in the future.
Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Internet Software and Services, kept beating the drum that television “needs to be reinvented” saying that we currently live with glorified VCR’s. “You’re still setting things to record. There are 900 channels, but there’s nothing to watch.” He continued putting blame on the interface saying that “the ways you interface with it are pretty brain dead.”

The interview is fascinating to watch, as most are when they feature Apple executives. Cue, in particular, always seems genuine when he speaks. He’s right about TV and where the future is headed.
I just wish Apple would make a TV service already.
