WatchTube Brings Together the Unlikely Combination of YouTube and the Apple Watch
Thanks to the new app WatchTube, you can really watch YouTube videos on the extremely small screen of the Apple Watch
The app is surprisingly full featured. When starting it up on the watch, you’ll see a list of trending YouTube videos. Once you watch content, the feed will change accordingly.
For privacy, all curated content shown on the feed is generated offline on on the watch directly using an algorithm that determines what you watch and like along with channels you’ve subscribed to.
When you find a video to watch, you can see information about it and all the comments.
It’s also possible to enable captions so you won’t use the watch speaker.
There is even a search functionality.
As far as watching videos, you’re probably expecting a top-notch experience. And that’s a good thing.
Even on the larger 45mm Apple Watch Series 7 you won’t exactly see much detail. And the fact the the watch screen is square while most YouTube videos are widescreen adds large black bars to the top and bottom of the screen.
WatchTube is a free download on the App Store now.
