Will you be tough enough to make it on the Mean Streets?
There’s a rookie coming to the rough part of the city soon, ready to take on the bad guys of the neighborhood. That rookie will be you in an upcoming game, tentatively titled Mean Streets, that was announced on TouchArcade’s forums recently.
A doubly-inspired game
Mean Streets takes the mechanics of Punch Out, using directional swipes, and pairs them with art inspired by Team Fortress 2. All of that inspiration will be coming to you in a free-to-play iOS game. The action-packed title will feature multiple characters you can unlock and develop, along with a map that takes you through various parts of the neighborhood. Quests challenge you to take down bullies and kick out uninvited guests, and then there are the simple street brawls to fill in the gaps.
A great-looking title
The graphics, so far, look fantastic, with an excellent physics engine and combat mechanics. I’m looking forward to this one, and will definitely cover it in more detail when the game releases. We don’t have a launch date yet, but check out the trailer for a sneak peek of what’s to come. The developer points out that quite a bit is missing from this year-old video, but take a look and enjoy the fight scenes. If the trailer fails to load, just click here.
