iTunes Coming to Windows App Store Ahead of Windows 10 S Launch

Apple's Competitors
May 11, 2017

Apple’s bringing iTunes to the Windows Store. In doing so, it guarantees that the application will be available on the upcoming Windows 10 S operating system.

Windows users have long been able to download iTunes from the Apple website. However, this will be the first time the application has been available through the Windows Store.

The education-focused Windows 10 S is a feature-limited edition of Windows 10 that’s coming later this year. It features a faster initial setup and login process, and only allows the installation of software through the Windows Store.

As Apple Insider rightly notes:

Though the importance of iTunes on Windows was lessened greatly when iPhones and iPads gained the ability to be activated without a computer, it still remains a key part of Apple’s ecosystem not only for device management, but also for purchasing content and using services like Apple Music.

Apple iTunes will be available on the Windows Store before the end of the year. There has been no word on whether other Apple products for Windows will also be making the jump too, including QuickTime and AirPort Utility.
