Shanked (Free) by ZebApp is a basic aim and shoot game. The twist is that you don’t use your fingers to aim where the camera is looking. You physically move your iPhone around to view the monsters. This is a game that you play in the privacy of your own home. You probably don’t want to play this while on a bus or the subway.

The monsters walk towards you, and you have to shoot them. To shoot, you tap on them. If you tap on their heads, you’ll earn extra points. You can also earn more points by shooting them while they’re still far away.

There are different types of monsters in the game. These different types have a separate color that represents them. For example, the yellow monsters walk straight toward you, the red monsters move sideways, and the black monsters have armor. The green monsters are actually good. They bring you treasures, and you’re not suppose to kill them.

Since you have to swing your device around to see the monsters, it’s pretty easy for them to sneak up behind you. Luckily, you have a radar that shows you exactly where the monsters are. You can also tell by the color of the dot which type of monster is there.

You can play Shanked in two different modes. The campaign option allows you to play individual levels. The challenges option is more like a survival mode. You go for as long as possible. You can also invite a friend to play against you in the challenge mode, and your goal is to get more points than them.

I’m not a huge fan of overly creepy games. I get scared easily. Shanked is a great game for someone like me. It’s a little spooky and chilling, but it’s not overwhelmingly scary.
