This Upcoming Jailbreak Tweak Brings Mission Control To iOS 7

February 25, 2014

One upcoming jailbreak tweak, Vertex, aims to bring a Mission Control-inspired interface to iOS 7. It does this by merging together Control Center and the multitasking UI, and the resultant effect is pretty impressive.

We're not sure when Vertex is going to go public, but the folks behind the jailbreak tweak (@ianb821 and @tmnlsthrn) are presently on the hunt for beta testers, as iDownloadBlog explains.

Besides presenting iOS app “cards” in a semi-Mission Control kind of way, Vertex also allows users to access information on iOS applications by pulling down on an app card, and Control Center's toggles feature in the same interface, too.

Information provided on apps involves “last opened,” “used for,” and “total duration,” and this appears hidden behind app cards. We're guessing iOS applications can also be closed from this menu using the usual swipe-to-kill gesture.

We've talked before about the new features we'd like to see in iOS 8, but a Mission Control app switcher didn't make our list. The in-development package is itself based on a concept that surfaced online last week, and given the amount of attention the concept received we're guessing a number of readers would enjoy accessing the new interface on their iOS device. What do you think?

We'll keep you updated with further information on Vertex as we receive it.
