Instagram's iOS Users Can Now Strengthen Or Soften The Lux Effect

March 11, 2014

The Facebook-owned Instagram has received a small but useful update adding a slider for the Lux effect. Users of the iOS app can now strengthen or soften the filter using a slider toggle in order to compose the perfect picture.

Instagram's Lux effect can be enabled by touching the sun icon after an image has been either captured using the Camera app, or selected from one's Camera Roll.

Though the app previously auto-applied the effect to your chosen image, Instagram 5.0.6 indeed provides iPhone and iPod touch users with a degree of control over how the Lux feature works.

Lux launched in the Instagram app more than two years ago now, appearing at the time alongside a refreshed interface and a new filter. Since then, the application has received a group sharing feature and paid ads have gradually been edging closer to the photo-sharing service.
