App Store Description

With WiDict you can find translations for many words, mostly proper names, that aren't in the normal dictionaries.

I created WiDict while studying Chinese, but it can be used for different languages as well.
On of the problems I came across was that often certain proper names aren't in the normal dictionary, especially names related to current events. Or in other cases, the dictionary would list five different translations of a certain word, leaving me to guess which one is actually used in daily life.
In these cases Wikipedia can be helpful. Since many of those words will have a Wikipedia page, a good translation can often be found by searching the English Wikipedia, and then following the language link to the language you're interested in, in my case Chinese.
Since I was using Wikipedia this way more and more often, and doing it manually is a bit cumbersome, especially on an iPhone, I decided to build this app for it. You can use any languages supported by Wikipedia, but of course the rate of success will depend on the number of articles in that language.

An internet connection is needed to make full use of this application.
