myTracks: The Ultimate Stalker App?

As we all know, a big part of iOS 4's multitasking involves background location data; the ability to allow apps to track your movements in the background. This is very cool indeed, and you'll especially appreciate this improvement if you've ever tried to use a tracking app like "Trails" under iOS 3.1.3 or below. The app worked great - but the rest of your iPhone was unusable. Even a call would bring your tracking process to a premature end.
Since then, Trails has been updated to iOS 4 and now includes the ability to run in the background. This is a godsend for serious users of the app. However, an unchanged negative to the application is the price - a pretty hefty $3.99. Now another tracking app has been released - one that also has the ability to track your movements in the background, it's called "myTracks".
Much like Trails, myTracks uses OpenStreetMap - the Wikipedia of maps - to present the tracks it records. In addition, myTracks also supports Bing Maps, for those of you who have taken to Microsoft's relatively new service.
Take a look at a complete list of myTracks' features below:
- OpenStreetMap can be used offline
- Photos can be taken and attached to tracks
- Tracks can be sent by email
- Recorded tracks can be easily synced with your Mac
- Photos can be sent by email
- Languages supported: English, French, German
- Running of GPS in the background
