Flixster Updated - Now Crashes On Many Devices?

August 23, 2010
The popular movie-info iPhone app, Flixster, received an update recently that brought with it more than a few added features. However, version 4.1 - which brings cast and character information, high-res artwork, and enhanced interaction with Facebook - also came with a bug that causes the application to crash on a variety of devices. As you'd expect, this has resulted in a series of one-star reviews in iTunes, with many users of the app feeling more than a little disgruntled. The guys at Flixster have updated the app's release notes with a handy message for anyone experiencing the issue:
*NOTE: Some users have reported crashes when starting the latest version of the app, version 4.1. You may need to uninstall and reinstall the app if this happens. We are working to identify and resolve the problem and hope to have a fix shortly.
As of yet, we're not entirely sure whether a simple reinstall fixes the crash. Instead, we advise you to avoid this update until the bug has been fixed - which should be within a week, if past experiences with issues such as this are anything to go by. We'll be posting as soon as Flixster's update hits the App Store. In the meantime, be sure to let us know whether you've unknowingly updated and encountered the crash in the comments box below. We'd appreciate it if you could include your iPhone model and iOS.
