New PSP Ad Tries To Take A Bite Out Of The Apple

Don't you just love the back-and-forth, catty statements those high-flying consumer electronics companies make in their various TV ads? I mean, Apple's no saint: the Mac vs. PC ads that polluted our TV screens didn't do Steve and company any favors (even if the ads had a point or two).
More recently the "Antennagate" fiasco placed Apple right in the crosshairs of every snarly ad going - with many openly mocking the issue.
Yet now, with the antenna issue firmly in the past (where it belongs), Apple's rival companies are having to find other aspects of the handset to satirize. And, Sony has managed to do it in its latest PSP ad - which pretty much states: you want to game seriously? Check out the PSP.
The ad, which is embedded below (direct link to Viddler, here), has of course been strategically aired. With the upcoming release of iOS 4.1, iPhone users are going to be able to take mobile gaming to the next level with the introduction of Apple's Game Center.
This new "social gaming network" allows fanboys to interact with one another, XBOX Live style. Aside from adding multiplayer capabilities to your iDevice, Game Center will also include achievements and a leader board. In short, it's something worth looking out for.
So, as you'd naturally expect, Sony is probably feeling a little nervous. What with the iPad's gaming capabilities, and now the iPhone's long awaited Game Center about to hit the iOS, many are going to be looking at their handset as a mobile gaming device instead of "just a phone" (if they don't already).
Be sure to check out the video (below), and let us know what you think of it in the comments box at the bottom of this article. Personally, Marcus annoys me.
