Great news, UK iPhone fans: Facebook Places is now available in the UK, following its initial release in the US and Japan! And, what's more, it works like a charm. I've already been checking in and out of a variety of places with ease, and as of yet, I've encountered no problems with Facebook Places on my iPhone.
Places, is a Facebook service which allows users to post their location as a status update. Additionally, you can view the whereabouts of your Facebook friends in an easy to read list.
Places allows friends to meet up without formally organizing a venue. By "checking in" to a particular place, others may catch sight of this online and decide to meet you there. Once you leave a venue, simply "check out" to let the world know you've moved on.
As of this moment, we're not exactly sure when Europe is scheduled to get Places. It seems as if each country is going to be switched on one by one. We'll be posting if we hear more!
So, if you're in the UK (the US, or Japan), be sure to take a look at Facebook Places on your iPhone now! It should work immediately, as there's no need for an update. And, let us know how it works for you in the comments box at the bottom of this article!
Facebook for iPhone is a free application, which is available in the App Store now.
