The Incident Is Bigger, Crisper, Darker, And Now Works Great In Pairs
October 16, 2010
If The Incident wasn't scary, diverse, intense, or even good enough looking for you before, it's time to expose yourself to the experience that could change your gaming life. Well, maybe not life changing, but Big Bucket Software has provided a fairly significant update for their fans.
The Incident v1.2 supplies a new survival mode called Endless Nightfall, in addition to the regular "The Rise and Fall of Frank Solway" story mode. This new mode allows you to focus on simply getting the best score. Speaking of scores, you can compete against family, friends, and co-workers on the Endless Nightfall Game Center leaderboard.
Another big addition is the ability to use your iPhone or iPod touch as a wireless gaming controller, with your iPad being the screen. Communication and pairing seems to utilize Wi-Fi, and not Bluetooth like Chopper 2. To pair, go to the game options on your iPhone or iPod touch and tap "Use As Controller." Move to your iPad, and again under game options, choose "Find A Controller." Once they've paired, your iPhone or iPod touch should say "Waiting for game..." This screen will appear whenever you're in a menu, which you control on the iPad.
When using your pocket-sized iDevice as a controller, the controls are the same as playing on a stand-alone device. Tap anywhere to jump and tilt your iDevice left or right to move. Another perk of this configuration is you'll be shown what object is falling next. As I mentioned earlier, any menu choices will be performed on the iPad. In addition to actually controlling your character, you'll notice a blinking indicator at the top of the gameplay area. This indicator shows where an object is going to fall. A white bar means a normal speed, however, a red indicator depicts an object moving at very high speeds.
The Incident v1.2 also includes:
• Retina display support for super-crisp pixels.
• New music in Endless Nightfall and Twitter screen.
• In-Game options: Access options without returning to the Main Menu.
• 53 new items (including 3 items drawn by guest artists).
• New power-up balloon in Endless Nightfall.
• Escape Bubble must be recharged between uses.
• New sound for pipe objects.
