Atomic Web Browser's Return Is Accompanied By A Significant Update
March 14, 2011
After a brief disappearance following guideline violations, RichTech's Atomic Web Browser returns to the App Store via an update. As also noted in their latest blog entry, Atomic Web Browser v5.5 adds enhancements to autofill, tab management, privacy, search, and more.
The latest Atomic Web Browser brings tap and hold actions to the tab bar and bookmarks systems. Tap and hold on bookmarks in the bookmark bar (iPad only) to open them in a new tab. Tap and hold on any tab to reveal additional options. You can close the tab you tapped on, close all tabs, or close all tabs except for the one you tapped on.
Saved form data can now be automatically filled as you type. Even though this is something I consider to be a standard action for most browsers and operating systems, RichTech has decided to disable it by default. The "Fill" button during form entry feature is still available as before.
Items can now be Individual deleted from the Cookies, Saved Forms, Trusted SSL Sites, and Saved Authentications lists. You can manage this information through Settings, then Privacy Options, and scrolling down to View Private Data.
Additional options now available under the Address Bar and Search Bar section of the Settings consist of the ability to disable automatic spelling correction in the search bar and the possibility to limit the number of items in the previously visited sites list. This option is disabled for users upgrading to the new version and set to 200 for those freshly downloading the app.
