Sirius XM Premium Online Has A New Name, New Look, Now Includes iPad Support, And More

March 16, 2011
Formerly named SIRIUS XM Premium Online, the SiriusXM Internet Radio app now provides an iPad-optimized interface, plus adds quality enhancements and some new information you can check out. Sirius' biggest change for the app is in the user interface. When used on an iPhone or iPod touch, the UI is a little brighter with a blue and white theme rather than black and white, displays album artwork, and crisper thanks to the new Retina display support. The real change, however, is SiriusXM Internet Radio now natively supports the iPad. The iPad UI appears to be fully inline with what users have come to expect. iPad users can view the station list and currently playing song or show information all at once. The last update to the app was way back in July, where v1.3.3 added iOS 4 multitasking features, like background audio playback and fast app switching, and improved cellular network performance. SiriusXM Internet Radio v1.4 adds album art, artist biographies, and AAC+ audio format support for improved clarity and performance. SiriusXM Internet Radio can be an extension of your existing XM or Sirius experience, or be used as your only source for more than 120 channels of commercial free music, sports, uncensored comedy, and talk radio content. Sign up for a standalone SiriusXM Internet Radio for $12.95 per month, or add it to an existing account for $2.95 per month. SiriusXM Internet Radio is a universal app compatible with iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch running iOS 3.0 or later, and available as a free download in the App Store. SiriusXM Internet Radio subscription required. Plans start at $2.95 per month for existing customers.
