Apple's iPhone PR Team Invite UK Journalists To WWDC - New iPhone Will Be Announced After All?

May 26, 2011
According to a recent report, Apple's iPhone public relations team has been inviting UK journalists "from major publications" to this year's WWDC event. Because the invites have come from Apple's iPhone PR team, some have suggested that this signifies the launch of a brand new iPhone handset. As originally reported by Electricpig:
A source tells us that Apple’s UK iPhone PR team is approaching journalists from major publications to fly out to the event in San Francisco next month. The obvious conclusion would be that Apple is announcing a new iPhone. Or rather, an updated model. The iPhone 4S is slated as a stop-gap before the appearance of a true, ‘&%!*, they’ve done it again!’ game-changer next year.
In the past, Apple has announced a hardware upgrade to its iPhone at WWDC's keynote presentation (usually delivered by Steve Jobs). However, over the past few months we have heard various rumors suggesting that Apple is not planning on announcing a new iPhone this June, and will instead hold off on the announcement until September. If the fifth generation iPhone doesn't feature a wide variety of new features, and is more of an "update" than a "game-changer," it could likely be called the iPhone 4S. However, many rumors claim that the upcoming handset could be more than just an updated iPhone 4. What are you hoping for in the fifth generation iPhone? Let us know in the comments below. And remember, you can check out every rumor we've published on the iPhone 5 by heading over to our recently launched Web resource. [via Apple Insider]
