Instagram has just made its "iPhone hooks" feature available to all developers, meaning more apps will soon be able to integrate seamlessly with the Instagram app.
A few days ago, 100 Cameras in 1 received an awesome update that added Instagram integration. In the updated version of the app, users can export images edited within the app to Instagram, literally adding 100 new filters for Instagram fans to take advantage of.
According to TechCrunch, this feature isn't exclusive. In fact, Instagram has just made the feature - called "iPhone hooks" - available to other developers, meaning we can expect to see similar Instagram integration features launch within other apps very soon. As reported by TechCrunch, here's what "iPhone hooks" can do:
This can mean both opening the Instagram app to a certain photo, user, location, or tag. Or it can allow another app to open the app and load the Instagram camera immediately. Most importantly, it allows pictures taken with other apps to be seamlessly passed into the Instagram “sharing flow”. This means a photo can be passed into the app right to the filter screen within Instagram.Furthermore, this feature isn't limited to iOS apps. It can work with Web apps, too, which is brilliant. While 100 Cameras in 1 is currently the only app taking advantage of this feature, I think it's safe to say that we can expect to see Instagram's "iPhone hooks" appear in other apps very soon. If you're a developer interested in adding this feature to your app, here's an overview of "iPhone hooks" as provided by Instagram.
