Flip, Slip, Slide, And Soar In The New Disc Drivin' And Disc Drivin' HD Tracks

July 30, 2011
Back in April, Pixelocity Software kindly added three new tracks and tweaked the user interface a bit in Disc Drivin', both the standard and ad-supported free version, and Disc Drivin' HD. Today, all three gain another few new courses, a new obstacle, and some bug fixes. Pixelocity's exciting multiplayer racing game now has 18 total tracks to compete on, and the three new additions in v1.7 certainly add new difficulties to the selection. And without further delay, here's an overview of the new raceways. Flip Out makes a worthy effort of introducing racers to the new "flipper." The course contains three of these new items, which can give a great advantage by launching your disc over players and walls or become your next nightmare by shooting your disc to an earlier part of the course or off the track entirely. Flip Out's curves combined with a boost arrow and these new flippers make it a great addition for both veterans and beginners. Slip N' Slide isn't a wet lawn game, but it does offer some of the same characteristics. Racers will make their way around a fairly standard oval speed track, however, there is plenty to slow you down. Even though it only contains a single flipper, the desire for speed and numerous highly deflective oil and water slicks will send your disc bouncing off walls and other racers as if you were in a pinball machine. Under a Big W winds about like Flip Out, although, it contains a speed stretch that could be less promising than you'd hope. Including a few boost arrows, this new track can feel more like a roller coaster with that "W" shape as racers take bursting runs with unexpected stops. Unlike a roller coaster, however, you will likely find yourself soaring off course attempting to make some nifty shortcuts. Disc Drivin' Free and Disc Drivin' are designed for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 3.0 or later, and Disc Drivin' is available in the App Store for $1.99. Disc Drivin' HD is compatible with iPad running iOS 3.2 or later, and available in the App Store for $2.99. [gallery link="file" columns="4"]
