Skype For iPad Got Released Ahead Of Schedule - Now It's Gone

August 2, 2011
Recently, a Skype for iPad application was released in the App Store and then pulled. According to a Twitter update from the Skype team, the app "went live prematurely." For a while now, we've been expecting a native iPad version of the popular Skype iPhone app to launch. The appearance of such an application in the iPad App Store (which was called "Skype for iPad") suggested that Skype had finally released the application. However, many were unable to find the app - it wasn't present some App Stores and soon it was confirmed that the app had been pulled. As mentioned, the news came in a Twitter update from the Skype team (@skype), which read:
To ensure your best Skype experience, we've temporarily removed Skype for iPad which went live prematurely today.
The team added:
We know you've been eagerly awaiting Skype for iPad and apologize for the inconvenience.
Hopefully the application will be released soon. We'll be sure to post once Skype for iPad hits the App Store, and in the meantime, take a look at some screenshots of the application below. [gallery columns="5"] [via All Things Digital]
