Rumor: Apple To Launch The iPhone 5 On October 14 In US, UK, France, Germany & Japan

September 27, 2011
A recent report from Macotakara (via Apple Insider) has recently hit the Web, in which the Japanese website claims that Apple will launch the fifth generation iPhone handset in the US, UK, France, Germany and Japan on October 14. The date suggested is in just a couple of weeks, leading many of us to view this claim with more than just an ounce of skepticism. However, we should remember that the October 14 launch date has been suggested before, and that Apple has blocked-out employee vacations for this period. Furthermore, we recently heard Orange CEO Stephane Richard mention that the iPhone 5 would launch on around this time. And in the past, Apple has launched new iPhone handsets on a Thursday or Friday, adding a further degree of validity to the October 14 date. Apple is rumored to announce the fifth generation iPhone handset on October 4, at a special media event held on the company's Cupertino campus. The launch date for the handset will presumably be announced then. However, as of this moment, nothing has been confirmed by Apple (not even the October 4 announcement date), meaning that we can't be sure when the company will unveil its fifth generation iPhone handset, let alone when the smart phone will hit Apple Stores. The claim from Macotakara has all the benefits of behind supported by previous reports, though that doesn't change the fact that October 14 is in the very near future - almost too close to the present, some might say. Personally, I'm just hoping Apple's fifth generation iPhone is a handset worth getting excited about. There are rumors claiming that Apple will release an iPhone 4S and a fully-featured, much improved iPhone 5, but this could turn out to be false, and the company could just release an iPhone 4S boasting minor, under-the-hood improvements. Either way, we'll know soon enough. Check back with us for more news, and in the meantime, feel free to share your thoughts in the comments.
