The Cycle Is Complete; Touchgrind BMX Is Now Available For iPad

September 8, 2011
Anticipated by many since the announcement earlier this year, Illusion Labs' Touchgrind BMX is finally available in an iPad-native form. Arriving as a universal iOS app, Touchgrind BMX v1.4 is a free update for current users and a single purchase for those who've been waiting to get in on the extreme biking action. Visually, the difference is the scenery is extended to the sides on the iPad. I feel that doing tricks is a bit easier on the iPad, which could be as simple as more screen real estate means fingers cover less of the graphics. The previous update did introduce large screen support, i.e., your HD television. Of course, having your iPhone or iPod touch connected to a TV and being able to play on your iPad are two very different big screen experiences. So, how does Touchgrind BMX's video-out work on the iPad 2? Unlike the controller-only UI displayed when using Apple's pocket-sized iDevices, the iPad 2 mirrors all graphics. Touchgrind BMX features: • True physics • The same revolutionary controls as seen in the original skateboarding game Touchgrind • Many unlockable bikes and locations • Earn medals and complete challenges at every location • Record and replay your runs • Create replay videos and show the world (iPhone 3GS / 3G iPod touch or newer) • TV-out (iPhone 4 / 4G iPod touch / iPad 2) Touchgrind BMX is a universal app compatible with iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch running iOS 4.0 or later, and available in the App Store for $4.99. Game Center features require iOS 4.1 or later.
