China Telecom has recently confirmed (via its website) that the network will carry Apple's iPhone 4S from March 9.
In China, the iPhone 4S is already available with China Unicom - the exclusive carrier of Apple's iPhone handsets in the country. Back at the beginning of January, we heard Apple had potentially built a modified version of the iPhone 4S, which would be capable of running on China Telecom's network. Since, China Telecom confirmed in a press release that it would carry the iPhone 4S either in February or March.
Now, we know China Telecom will have the iPhone 4S in stores from March 9, meaning Apple fans in China will have more choice when it comes to choosing a carrier for their new iPhone handset.
According to Jim Dalrymple of The Loop, here are the prices:
iPhone 4S will be available starting at RMB 0 for the 16GB, 32GB and 64GB models on select contracts in China Telecom’s authorized stores and online, the company said.Though the iPhone 4S's Siri feature doesn't yet support Mandarin, the handset itself has been a huge hit in the country, with Apple fans in China almost bringing down an Apple Store in Beijing in order to grab an iPhone 4S on launch day. If you're based in China, more information on the iPhone 4S with China Telecom can be found over at the carrier's website.
