Yesterday we covered all the
hot new game releases and updates of the week, so if you missed it make sure to check it out, but today we are focusing on non games - just apps.
App Updates
Songza: Updated
We started the show on a high note with
Songza. Songza
got updated to version 1.30 this week adding Twitter sharing, and the real app-changing feature, Concierge. Now the app is pretty much like
Pandora, but instead of putting in an artist to figure out what you want to listen to, you tell it what you're doing. It figures out what day and time it is, then returns an array of activities, and the music that would go with it. Say it's Friday afternoon, it will offer things like Music for Work or Study, Energy Boost, or Epic Walking. It's a fun way to discover music that fits your day. Songza is free and currently iPhone only.
Adobe Ideas: Updated
The next noteable update from this week comes from
Adobe Ideas. The $10 universal app now has
even more features that justify the price tag. They've added an eyedropper tool, easier ways to select colors, ways to name your creations for easier finding and sharing, and more layers per sketch at no extra charge. Adobe Ideas is a fun sketch app that lets you capture your ideas no matter where you're sketching.
New Apps
Scrivor: Free
While app updates are great, it's time we moved on to the fresh new apps of the week. Pretty much everyone uses Twitter these days, at least most everyone, but that 140 character limit can be, well, limiting. In comes
Scrivor. All you do is write, attach, and tweet. Scrivor lets you pick your paper, and write as much as the page will hold. Then Scrivor transforms your words into an image that you can then attach to a tweet.
Souvenir: $0.99
Next up is
Souvenir, which brings a new way to view your photos on your iPad. Want to show your friends or family a photo album?
Souvenir for iPad is a page turning way to do it. Souvenir takes your photos and transforms them into interactive picture books. You can put it to music, and turn the pages creating a real photo album effect. You know, like back in the day when we used to actually print out our photos. Souvenir is currently iPad only.
Basil: $3.99
Last up is
Basil. If you like to cook, or even if you don't, but want to start,
Basil is a great app that lets you add personal recipes as well as ones from the Web. And yes, it's also Retina ready. Basil is currently iPad only.
If we missed a great app, or update that came out this week please let us know in the comments. And remember, if you have any questions, comments or an app you would like covered on next week's show make sure to contact Robin on Twitter at robinrhys or on Facebook.
