Appigo Adds Location-Based Alerts To Their Task Management App

Today, Appigo, creator of Corkulous and Notebook, has taken a significant step forward with their task management app, Todo. It may be only a single feature addition, but Todo v5.2's location reminders should make a big impact on the app's usefulness.
Location-based alerts can be utilized on their own, such as an additional reminder when leaving work to pick up a child from practice, or to compliment a day-specific task like shopping lists.
“Our users now have the capability to use their phone as a personal assistant, just put in what you need and where you want to be reminded and Todo does the rest,” said Gaisford. “With reminders built into the Todo app, our users can concentrate on what’s most important, getting things done.”Adding a location reminder is easy, and is available for any task. Within the task options, enable Location Alert, choose a location, and then pick whether to be notified when leaving that location or once you've arrived. Along with selecting a location from your address book or entering an address manually, Todo allows selecting any location, including your current position, by performing a single tap anywhere on the map.
Boyd Timothy, president at Appigo said the location alerts are easy to set up and simple to understand. “The location alerts work seamlessly,” said Timothy. “The user simply defines a location with the on-screen map that pops up or by typing in an address and the alert goes off when the user assigns it to.”For those unaware, the look and feel of this feature is very similar to Apple's Reminder app in iOS 5. However, Apple doesn't offer the selection of a location via a map, only through address entry or contact data importing. The map option is nice, especially if you don't know the address offhand, but I would really like to see full geofencing support, where a user can define custom area instead of simply an address. Todo for iPhone and iPod touch is compatible with iOS 3.1 or later, and available in the App Store for $4.99. Todo for iPad is compatible with iOS 3.2 or later, and available in the App Store for $4.99. Using location reminders only works on iDevices with GPS chipsets, iPhones and cellular-equipped iPads.
