Apple Tops Fortune’s Most Admired Company List For The Fifth Straight Year

March 1, 2012
Another year, another top spot for Apple on Fortune's Most Admired Companies list. The magazine announced its complete list, voted on by business professionals, and Apple won the top honor for the fifth straight year. The Fortune story ran through some already familiar statistics, including $108 billion dollars in annual revenues, and an 81 percent increase in iPhone and 334 percent increase in iPad sales. Apple's stock has also continued to climb higher, reaching $544 today, while setting a market cap of more than $500 billion earlier this week. Other tech companies of note in the list included Google at No. 2, Amazon.com at No. 3 and Microsoft at No. 17. Samsung was No. 34 while AT&T was surprisingly at No. 46 (throttling be damned). Apple was also No. 1 in the people management and financial soundness categories while also taking home the top honors in the computer industry. With the iPad 3 set to be announced Wednesday, the iPhone 5 and maybe even an Apple television coming in 2012, it looks like Apple may not have much trouble next year making it six years in a row.
