Quickoffice Pro HD Adds Editing Capability For Microsoft PowerPoint PPTX Files
April 11, 2012
Quickoffice Pro HD, one of the most popular Office editing suites for iPad, has undergone another update.
If you're a longtime user of Quickoffice Pro HD, you may recall that its previous update, which was pushed last February, added the ability to view and edit Microsoft Word 2010 files, view and edit Microsoft Excel 2010 files, and view Microsoft PowerPoint 2010 files. Notice that the ability to also edit Microsoft PowerPoint 2010 files was absent in that update. Apparently, this particular feature had to be fine-tuned for another month or so, since it's only now that it's made available. Starting with Quickoffice Pro HD's version 4.5.0, you can now create and edit Microsoft Powerpoint 2007 and 2010 .pptx files in addition to simply being able to view them.
The app's support for editing presentations in .pptx as well as .ppt formats is quite impressive. It has options for slide management, graphics insertion and manipulation, and advanced formatting of text boxes, shapes, and images.
Quickoffice Pro HD is also now well-integrated with the iPad's native email client and enhanced with Chinese (simplified or traditional), Japanese, Portuguese, and Dutch localizations. However, the app is still not optimized for the new iPad's Retina display. Perhaps that will be resolved, and more office productivity-boosting features will be added, in the next update.
Now providing editing capabilities across the entire Microsoft Office suite, Quickoffice Pro HD is available in the App Store for $19.99.
