Avatron Acts Within Window Of Opportunity, Updates Air Display With Retina Support For Windows

May 15, 2012
Avatron Software's Air Display, the popular wireless computer screen extender app for iOS, has just received a Retina update. You might be thinking that Air Display is a little late to the party, what with all of two months having passed since the launch of the new iPad and its Retina display. Well, in that case, I'd have to make this clear: Air Display has just received its second Retina update. When Air Display was updated to version 1.6 early last month, Retina display support was added to the app. But the new feature initially covered Mac OS X only. The app's latest update, which bumps it a bit to version 1.6.1, finally introduces Windows support for rendering graphics at high resolution on Retina displays. Note that, if you so desire, you can still choose to view your computer extensions on your new iPad at non-Retina resolutions. Also applicable to both Windows and Mac are the update's added improvements affecting Air Display's handling of frame rate and latency. Initial connection has also been improved by the update, but this particular change applies to Mac only. Air Display is available as a universal app in the App Store for $9.99. It's especially splendid to use on the new iPad, whether it's mirroring a Mac or, thanks to its latest update, a PC.
