The HungrySquid is growing. Just a little more than a week after the iPhone release of the challenging puzzle game, a new iPad version that fully leverages the Retina display has hit the App Store.
Featuring 60 levels in four chapters, HungrySquid HD is $0.99 and compatible with all iPads.
An upcoming update to the game will include a level editor to make your own puzzles.
On the game’s official website, players can download an iBook that expands on the squids in space story. The game’s soundtrack will also soon be offered for free as well.
And as a special treat, the iPhone version is now free, down from the original $0.99 price. In our original review, our own Lory Gil had significant praise for the title, saying the game is a must-have for users looking for a challenging puzzler.
A little hard to describe, HungySquid sees players helping the keepers of the universe protect the knowledge of the ages by solving complex, multifaceted brainteasers. Players start with a squid in the middle of a grid filled with symbol-laden hexagons. When the correct symbols are lined up, the squid releases its smart goo off the grid.
The goal is to send as much goo off the grid through as many paths as possible.
We now have 10 copies of HungrySquid HD to give to some lucky readers. For a chance to win, simply leave a comment on this post (with a valid email address) by 11 a.m. PST on Thursday, May 3. We’ll pick the winners randomly. Good luck!
