Though it's indeed possible to view GIFs in Safari for iOS on an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, if you attempt to save one of the animated images to your Photos app, sadly, the animation is lost. However, if you're GIF-crazy, worry not - because a jailbreak tweak called Giffy can make your iPhone's Photos app compatible with GIFs, allowing users to view animated images on their handset from within the native application. Just download Giffy in the Cydia Store and you'll be good to go - it's as simple as that. Potential users of the app should be aware that this version of Giffy includes an annoying bug, which results in GIFs not playing immediately (instead, users must return to the menu of the Photos app and then reopen the GIF). However, with any luck the tweak's developer should have this fixed in the near future. Currently, Giffy is available to download in the Cydia Store for $0.99. Check out the tweak now, and for more information, be sure to take a look at iDownloadBlog's video walkthrough of Giffy below.
