Jetpack Joyride Welcomes New Cash-Collecting Canine Character

May 24, 2012
Halfbrick Studios sure is on a roll. Want some incontrovertible proof? Well, just hours ago, it released the biggest update to date to its sweet and fleshy slicing game, Fruit Ninja, to mark the game's second anniversary. And what do you know? Incidentally, perhaps right at the same time, the Australia-based developer also pushed an update to its endless running game, Jetpack Joyride, on the occasion of … I don't know, just because? The point is, Halfbrick definitely knows how to delight its fans. With Jetpack Joyride alone, it has managed to add oodles of game-changing gadgets in the past couple of months. And today, it has added three more, one of which has got to be the best Jetpack Joyride gadget ever. If you can't see the video embedded above, please click here. I'm talking about Barry Steakfries' best friend, Flash. Flash is a robotic dog who, like the faithful sidekick that he is, runs alongside Barry through the endless, side-scrolling passages of the Legitimate Research labs. As shown in the trailer above, Flash collects coins, bumps into nerdy scientists, and he even takes part in Barry's sweet rides. Above all, he looks simply adorable. As mentioned, Flash is just one third of the update's gadget triple treat. The other two new additions to the game's gadget store is the Dezapinator, which causes zappers to fizzle out, and the Turbo Boost, which hurls you forward with its explosive rings. Outside the gadget store and into the clothing shop, the update also introduces the DJ Headphones, which put on some techno soundtrack to Barry's joyride. Jetpack Joyride is available in the App Store as a free universal app. Download or update the game now and start collecting enough coins to call on Flash the dog. Indeed, best friends, don't come any cooler than this.
