SmallBall Finally Adds Game Center And More Levels To Slice HD
May 8, 2012
SmallBall launched Slice HD in February 2011 with 24 levels and very few features. Since then, the game has been slowly gaining content, such as "The 12 Blades of Christmas," additional menu options, and tweaked game rules. Today, Slice HD reaches 60 total levels and now has Game Center integration.
To reach the 60 mark, the number of brand new levels is only three. While that may sound pathetic from the mathematical perspective, 36 new levels in 13 months isn't terrible in this case. The reason is because Slice HD pushes the limits of multi-touch to create "incredibly difficult and evil" puzzles, which presumably will require notably more time to complete than most other games.
New levels aside, the other big announcement is Game Center integration. Slice HD v1.4 includes a single leaderboard and two achievements. Blood Giver is worth 10 points and all it takes is spilling virtual blood, also known as failing a level. Finalist is worth 100 points and states "play all stages without cheating." I may be mistaken, but I interpret cheating as skipping levels using the level select option.
Unfortunately for iPhone and iPod touch users, Slice SD remains at 33 total levels and doesn't yet have Game Center.
Slice HD is compatible with iPad running iOS 4.3 or later, and available in the App Store for $2.99.
