With Its Newest Update, Soulver Solves The Problem Of Which Calculator App You Should Get

May 27, 2012
One of the smartest calculator apps around, Soulver has been updated recently with loads of enhancements to its interface and other components. Designed for both iPhone and iPad, Soulver is an app that understands numbers, just like other calculators. (Duh.) But what sets it apart from most other apps of its kind is that it's also able to understand words. For instance, in computing your bills for a prospective data plan, you might want to input "$25 for 32 months" into the app. Soulver then solves this into "$800." Apart from its ability to parse user inputs combining numbers and words, Soulver also boasts an interface that is itself easy to parse. The latest update to the app improves this interface, with its added landscape support for the iPhone version and Retina support for the iPad version. Also on the iPad version, you can now swipe left or right to show or hide the files drawer, just as you would the message list in Mail. You can view the full list of enhancements for Soulver's interface as well as its handling of files, currencies, and other elements in both versions' respective changelogs here and here. Soulver for iPhone is available in the App Store for $2.99. Soulver for iPad, on the other hand, costs exactly what the app yields if you enter "2 dollars more than 2.99."
