The content creation capability of the iPad is an oft-debated topic. But if, like me, you're on the pro side of the discussion, you'll do well to bring up the updated functionality of the popular iPad blogging app Blogsy. That's right. Blogsy has once again been updated. Following the previous "Dragon" update, the "Medusa" update aka Blogsy 4.0 brings another round of improvements. Blogsy 4.0 introduces three new platforms: Squarespace, Joomla, and MetaWeblog. Actually, Joomla has long been supported by Blogsy. But that's just Joomla 1.5. Now, the more recent versions of Joomla (1.6, 1.7, and 2.5) have been added to Blogsy's blogging arsenal. Also, note that MetaWeblog is just a generic setup. It enables you to set up your blog even in the absence of support for your blog's platform within Blogsy. As long as your blog's platform uses the MetaWeblog API, that is. In addition to the new platforms, a new service is welcomed by Blogsy. And that service is none other than Instagram. This means that you can now easily drag and drop Instagram photos to your blog posts. Furthermore, Blogsy now supports post excerpts for Wordpress and multiple image upload for Tumblr. If you can't see the video embedded above, please click here. For all its supported blogging platforms, the app has a lot of new enhancements, including image captions, word count, and search dock items. All these and more are highlighted in the video above. Equipped with features comparable in number to the serpents in Medusa's head, Blogsy is available in the App Store for $4.99. I almost always do my writing on my iPad through the plain and simple iA Writer. But it's nice to know that should the need or whim arise, I can always count on the increasingly versatile Blogsy to handle both my writing and my actual blog posting.
