Fandango Now Lets You Keep Track Of Movies On The Go

Just yesterday, I highlighted a new app called Flickd Movies. Unlike the far more popular and chart-topping Movies by Flixster, Flickd Movies lets you keep track of movies you'd like to watch. Once properly set up, the app can notify you when they hit theaters or become available in disc formats and on Netflix. Essentially, it lets you rest assured that you never miss an item on your movie wish list ever again. As it turns out, though, another more popular movie app is about to steal Flickd Movies' thunder. Enter Fandango Movies for iOS.
Following its big Retina iPad update last month, Fandango has just been updated with, most notably, a variant of Flickd Movies' flagship feature. Version 4.8 of Fandango is equipped with a movie tracking ability that's built into its "My Movies" section. This new feature lets you save the movies you're most looking forward to seeing, with the prospect of being notified of their premiere in theaters near you through the app's FanAlerts. Additionally, "My Movies" lets you keep track of movies you've already rated. Note, though, that this feature is currently exclusive to the app's iPhone version.
But that's not to say that Fandango's 4.8 update has nothing new in store for the app's iPad version. On the iPad, Fandango's reserved seating is now supported. First introduced in the iPhone version and available for select theaters only, this service lets you pick your seat directly on the app after taking advantage of Fandango's fabled ticketing utility.
Packed with a host of other handy features for moviegoers, Fandango Movies is available in the App Store for free. That's three dollars less than the cost of Flickd Movies, by the way.
