Update: Facebook Gets Closer Than Ever To Instagram In Update
June 25, 2012
Instagram users who have linked their accounts to Facebook will soon have the option of automatically sharing their Instagram activity to their timeline. A new feature, which should launch soon, looks like it will allow you to automatically share photos from your Instagram contacts with your Facebook friends, according to the Instagram Help Center website.
As it stands now, you cannot share Instagram photos from others to Facebook, just your own photos. You can, however, currently share with your Twitter followers. But seeing as how the Instagram site explains this as a feature already, it seems more options for timeline sharing are coming.
By default, timeline sharing will be switched off for all users, and can be switched on and off under Sharing Settings. Activity will display both in the ticker and in your timeline and news feed. For example, automatic sharing to Facebook of photos you like, or "heart," on Instagram will now be an option — though we're not sure when exactly.
These updates will be visible to the same audience as the Instagram photos you share to Facebook, the settings for which can be changed any time.
In April, Facebook purchased Instagram for $1 billion. Today’s news will almost certainly be one of many new Facebook integrations coming to the popular photo app.
