According to an email sent to iOS developers, Apple is planning on adding a "Food & Drink" section to the iOS App Store.
The news comes from MacStories, who notes that:
“In the next few weeks”, applications will be automatically migrated to the new category; currently, the App Store doesn’t provide a specific category for these types of apps, which have been typically listed under Lifestyle by their developers. According to Apple, the new category will include “apps that help users cook and bake, mix drinks, manage recipes, find new restaurants and bars, and learn what their friends like to eat and drink”. Food & Drink won’t include diet, grocery shopping, coupon clipping, or food-related game apps.Apple has been revamping its App Store recently, making both subtle tweaks in the current version, and more major changes in the version of the App Store app set to launch with iOS 6. A dedicated "Food & Drink" section will certainly be appreciated, and surely will quickly become clustered with countless recipie-managing and restaurant-finding iOS applications. As mentioned above, Apple has noted that the new section will launch "in the next few weeks." We'll let you know once Apple's "Food & Drink" section appears in the App Store - in the meantime, let us know your favourite food-related iOS app in the comments! Source: MacStories
