Google Updates Gmail For iOS: Adds Smoother Animations, Ability To Save Photo Attachments

July 31, 2012
Just over a month after Gmail for iOS received a Notification Center-supporting update, the official, universal Google Mail iOS client has been updated again, this time to version 1.3. Now, users of the application can enjoy smoother, more refined animations and can save image attachments to the Photos app. In addition, a number of important bug fixes have been made to Gmail for iOS. As outlined in the app's release notes, changes made in this version include:
  • Smoother animation and scrolling on iPhone and iPod touch.
  • Save picture attachments to your photo library. Touch and hold an image to save it.
  • Bug Fixes
It's always good news to hear that iOS apps are gaining smoother animations, as the effect is obviously more aesthetically pleasing. Support for image attachments, too, is a great (and much needed!) improvement to the already-impressive application. Hopefully, we'll see Google continue to improve Gmail, especially since it stole Sparrow from us just a couple of weeks ago. For Sparrow-alternatives for both OS X and iOS, check out our post. Gmail for iOS 1.3 is available now in the App Store. If you're a fan of the application, be sure to take a look at the latest version now.
