How To Jailbreak iOS 5.1.1 Under OS X Mountain Lion

July 31, 2012
Last week, Apple launched OS X 10.8 'Mountain Lion' - a new version of the desktop operating system, which promises to take the best features of the iOS and port them over to the Mac. Fortunately for jailbreakers, it's still possible to jailbreak our beloved iDevices under Mountain Lion. Read on for the entire process, which we've outlined for you below. 1 - First up, download redsn0w 0.9.14b2 from the iPhone Dev-Team. Below, we've pasted the links for both the OS X and Windows versions:
2 - Next, open redsn0w. Do note: in order to open the file, users running Mountain Lion will have to hold 'ctrl', and then click on the application's icon. The file should then open as usual. 3 - Once redsn0w launches, click the 'Jailbreak' icon and place your iDevice in DFU mode. The jailbreak process should finish in no time - after the iDevice has been fully jailbroken, unplug it from the Mac and head on over to the Cydia Store. There you have it, as simple as "one, two, three!" Remember to check out our jailbreak-related articles for news on the latest and greatest jailbreak tweaks the Cydia Store has to offer.
