Rumored: The iPhone Could Launch Sept. 21
July 26, 2012
The iPhone rumor mill remains in overdrive. Today's "news" comes from two sources that suggest Apple will release the next iPhone on Friday, Sept. 21. Both PhoneArena and App4Phone are making this claim. As BGR suggests, however, neither site has a proven track record with pre-release iPhone rumors.
Both sites cite "unnamed sources" to make their separate claims, which means neither can be verified. Still, the Sept.21 date makes sense. It would come just as Apple's fourth fiscal quarter ends, and would give the company a great way to end their fiscal year.
Assuming the date is correct, this would mean Apple's fall event would probably happen anywhere between Sept. 4 and Sept. 11.
In 2011, Apple unveiled the iPhone 4S on Oct. 4 with preorders launching Oct. 7. It arrived in U.S. stores on Oct. 11.
