Soon after Apple launched OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion in the Mac App Store (for $19.99), the iPhone Dev-Team quickly confirmed that its popular jailbreak tool, redsn0w, is compatible with the new version of OS X. This is good news for jailbreakers wishing to update to Mountain Lion, as it means they'll still have access to the redsn0w app for new jailbreaks, tethered boots and the like.
Here's what the iPhone Dev-Team had to say:
Update #1 7/25/12: redsn0w is compatible with today’s retail release of Mountain Lion OS X 10.8. Until we start using an official developer ID for it (!), you’ll need to use the new Ctrl-Click-Open security bypass the first time you run it after downloading. In OS X Mountain Lion, Apple has made a further step towards turning its line of Mac computers into iOS-inspired machines. New features include an iMessages app, Game Center and Twitter integration, all of which premiered on the company's iDevices. Remember, you can grab Mountain Lion in the Mac App Store for just $19.99. Additional information regarding redsn0w's compatibility with the new OS is available over at the iPhone Dev-Team's website.
