Upcoming Dashboard X 2.0 Update Makes The Already Impressive Jailbreak Tweak Even Better

July 23, 2012
The popular Dashboard X jailbreak tweak is due to be updated to version 2.0, and a couple of brand-new features will be added. Once available, jailbreakers using Dashboard X will be able to quickly resize widgets via the pinch-to-zoom gesture, and it will also be easier than before to position widgets in both portrait and landscape mode. Here at AppAdvice, we first told you about Dashboard X back in May, and soon after, the jailbreak tweak - which allows users to easily add impressive widgets to their iDevice's Home screen - launched in the Cydia Store. Since, a plethora of Dashboard X-compatible widget-packages have also launched, allowing users to add music widgets, battery-info widgets and more to their jailbroken iDevice. Though the jailbreak tweak was already impressive, as iDownloadBlog notes, this upcoming update promises to make Dashboard X even better:
This time around you can resize widgets using pinch gestures, and you can position widgets on both portrait and landscape orientations independently of one another. Simply put, this is an awesome follow up to an already great jailbreak tweak.
The website continues:
Along with the two previously mentioned big features, there’s also a brand new pop up menu that replaces that somewhat archaic sheet menu present in the original version. I find that this new pop up menu takes a lot of the pain out of adding new widgets, it’s not nearly as cumbersome as before.
Fans of Dashboard X will be pleased to learn that the tweak has been completely re-written. Here's the full change log for Dashboard X 2.0:
  • Dropped the alert for deleting widgets.
  • Pop over for adding a new widget on the iPad.
  • Resizing widgets (two finger pinch).
  • New animations for adding a new widget on iPhone.
  • ‘Suck’ animation when removing widgets.
  • In ‘Add New Widget’ dialog widgets no longer have “_” in their names.
  • Compatibility with no dots tweak.
  • Option to ‘replace background’ — replaces widgets’ backgrounds with a nicer ones.
  • When in wiggle mode and moving widgets, a tap and hold is required before actually moving the widget, like with normal app icons.
  • Different positions for different orientations on the iPad (on home screen).
  • Dashboard screen supports all (landscape right, left and portrait upside down) orientations.
Once available, Dashboard X 2.0 will be available to download for free for jailbreakers who've already purchased the first version of the package. If you haven't already downloaded and installed Dashboard X on your jailbroken iDevice, you can grab it from the Cydia Store for just $1.99 (via the ModMyi repository). Below, we've included a preview video of Dashboard X 2.0 provided by iDownloadBlog. We'll let you know once the updated tweak hits the Cydia Store, so check back with us.
