A Trillion New Features Await In Trillian 2.0
August 29, 2012
Nearly three years after it debuted in the App Store, the popular instant messaging app Trillian has finally been updated to version 2.0.
Not surprisingly, Trillian 2.0 delivers a trillion, that is to say, a great many new features.
Foremost among these is the app’s long-overdue iPad support.
At long last, Trillian is now a universal iOS app. But rather than being a mere scaled-up version of the iPhone app, Trillian for iPad is designed from scratch with the device’s bigger screen in mind. As it happens, Trillian for iPhone has also been redesigned.
Trillian 2.0 also introduces a new feature called Launchpad. Think speed dial, but for your most important Trillian contacts.
You can enhance your Launchpad by taking advantage of the app’s new address book name and photo import option. Or you can invite your friends who aren’t on the Trillian network yet with the new in-app invitation utility.
Furthermore, Trillian 2.0 adds better security, a mobile indicator, new emoticons, and in-window chat notifications. It also brings a much-requested feature with the ability to save photos as you send them to others.
Trillian 2.0 for iPhone and iPad is available now in the App Store for free.
Perhaps for most of us iDevice users, Apple’s own iMessage is more than enough for our instant messaging needs. But apps like the newly updated Trillian is still of interest mainly because of their cross-platform, Apple-or-no-Apple compatibility.
