AppAdvice Game Of The Week For August 24, 2012
Every week, our staff will handpick a game from the past two weeks that we believe is a must-download for your iPhone or iPad. These games will always be from a wide variety of genres, but they are chosen because our own staff members love it and can’t quite put it down. So here are this week’s picks! Enjoy, and happy gaming!
HornOur Game of the Week is none other than Horn, the new game from Zynga and Phosphor Games Studio. Another thing worth noting is the fact that this is the first title to launch under the Zynga Parters for Mobile project, announced in June.
Horn is like a mix of Infinity Blade and The Legend of Zelda. The story is based loosely on the Old English tales of King Horn. You will take the role of the young blacksmith, Horn, who wakes up and learns that his village is overrun by rather large monsters.
The game features beautiful and lush environments for players to freely explore. Controls work very well with the touch screen of your iPhone or iPad and allow you to make good use of melee combat or even long-range weaponry against your foes. Players will have access to swords, crossbows, and even a magical horn, in order to defeat the monsters that are roaming the land.
In addition to the regular story, Horn features some difficult challenge modes to really test your skills at the game. There will even be hidden side content to find and discover, so there’s always going to be something to do in the game.
This lush game has kept our staff busy this week, so make sure to check it out for yourself.
Please note that the game will not work on the first-generation iPad, iPhone 3GS, or iPod touch devices. It is optimized for the iPhone 4S, iPad 2, and new iPad.

Honorable Mention Super Mole EscapeOur Honorable Mention this week is another hit from Adult Swim Games. it’s an endless runner, not that much different from the classic Robot Unicorn Attack. Except this time, you’re going down (literally).
You start out with a choice of two mole prisoners in the beginning, but more can be unlocked if you have the gems for it. Once a character is selected, your goal is to escape the prison by burrowing your way underground and escaping the Warden.
To move around in the course, you just need to tilt your device. Collect gems and mystery boxes of power-ups that help you along the way. Any collected power-ups can be used by simply tapping on the button at the bottom. After a game, you get to test your luck on the judgment wheel, which can net you more gems, power-ups for the next game, or even a second chance!
Super Mole Escape has a single player mode as well as multiplayer through Game Center. The multiplayer mode adds an extra level of fun since you can race against a friend and see who comes out on top (or in this case, bottom).
The characters can all be upgraded through the Shop to increase their efficiency in burrowing. You can also purchase single-use items to help you out every now and then.
This is a fantastic game that will keep you playing for hours. If you’re a fan of the endless runner genre or just want a fun and addictive casual game to check out this weekend, make sure to grab it!
