The Facebook app for iOS has indeed been improving. However, it's still clumsy in at least some aspects. For example, saving and uploading photos is possible on the go, but it only works well for single image uploads. Doing batches of photos is a pain in either transferring direction.
PhotoSync for Facebook tackles that problem by providing intuitive and automated batch processing of uploads, downloads, and even contact syncing.
Downloading photos consists of two options, downloading your own or images posted by friends. Unlike the Facebook app, PhotoSync transfers entire albums. The idea is that the images are all of the same activity, location, etc, and you'd like to have them all.
When performing uploads, the task is completed in a very similar step-by-step process. You'll choose the image quality, select all of the photos to upload, make any desired edits, add any captions, and then queue the entire batch for uploading. Conveniently, uploading does continue in the background if you switch apps.
For enhancements and additions to images, PhotoSync includes the Aviary photo editor. The suite features manual and automatic image correction, plus annotating and entertainment items, such as stickers, text, and pen tools. If you craze further capabilities, you can always use of these great photography apps.
As a final perk, PhotoSync provides contact image syncing. Whether you didn't have time to add photos to Address Book or just want their latest profile picture when that friend calls you, contact syncing can make it happen. The synchronization can be accomplished by allowing PhotoSync to auto-match or you can be selective and do it all manually. Either way, the feature is a nice touch.
